Tips for a smooth application.

A little preparation goes a long way. Having these ready before you apply helps your application move without delays.

01

Have proof of income ready

Gather documents that show your income before you start, such as:

  • Recent pay stubs
  • An employment offer letter
  • Benefits or award letters
  • Recent bank statements
  • Tax returns, if you’re self-employed
02

Bring a photo ID

Keep a current government-issued photo ID handy for each adult applying.

03

Landlord contacts

Have names and phone numbers for your current and past landlords ready to enter.

04

Complete every field

Answer every question fully and honestly. Incomplete applications are the most common cause of delays.

05

One application per adult

Each adult 18 or older who will live in the home submits their own application.

06

Using a voucher or RAFT?

If you’re using a housing voucher or RAFT assistance, have your paperwork and caseworker’s contact information on hand.

07

Know your credit

Check your own credit report beforehand so you’re ready to explain anything that might come up.

08

Respond quickly

Watch your phone and email after applying, and reply promptly to any follow-up questions.

09

See the unit first

Schedule a showing with our leasing office so you know the home is right for you before applying.

Organizing paperwork on a desk before applying

These are general tips to help you prepare. Every applicant goes through the same process, in line with fair housing law. Questions? Call our leasing office at 413-344-2035.
